GCCF Registered – Why It Matters

 

At Le-Bella Ragdolls, all of our kittens are GCCF registered and raised in accordance with GCCF rules and guidance. We believe that if you are purchasing a pedigree Ragdoll, you should have the paperwork and history to support exactly what you are buying.

Every Le-Bella kitten will leave with their GCCF registration documentation, a signed pedigree showing at least three generations, and their vaccination record. GCCF rules also require kittens to have completed their vaccination course and to remain with their breeder for at least seven days afterwards before leaving for their new home — in practice, this normally means kittens are at least 13 weeks old.

Our kittens intended purely as much-loved family pets will normally be registered Non-Active, while a kitten sold specifically for an approved breeding programme may be registered Active where appropriate. Active and Non-Active status forms part of the GCCF registration system and helps make the breeder's intentions for that kitten clear.

Why avoid an unregistered “pedigree” kitten? Registration isn't simply a piece of paper. A GCCF registration provides a traceable registered identity, pedigree information and registration number, while breeders registering with GCCF are required to follow GCCF rules concerning matters such as documentation, vaccination and the age at which kittens can leave. An unregistered kitten advertised as a pedigree does not give you that same GCCF registration record, so we would always encourage prospective owners to ask why a pedigree kitten has not been registered before purchasing.

For us, responsible breeding means being transparent from the very beginning. Every Le-Bella kitten leaves our home with their history documented, their registration in place and the best start we can give them — because pedigree should be something you can prove, not simply something you're told
